Standard CAN/CGSB-131.10-2008, Translation Services


The CAN/CGSB-131.10-2008 Translation Services Standard was established in 2008. It was adapted from the European Committee for Standardization (CEN)’s standard for translation services, EN 15038.

In 2009, NLP Technologies Inc. was one of the first companies in Canada to adopt the Language IndustryAssociation of Canada (AILIA)’s CAN/CGSB-131.10-2008 national standard for translation services.

In July 2012, NLP renewed the standard, thus allowing it to consolidate its competitive advantage by proving more than ever that its translation services, processes and systems are trustworthy.

This Canadian national standard defines the process requirements for translation services providers (TSP). It establishes the criteria required throughout the translation process (from the request for a quote to the delivery of a service that meets customer requirements).

Some of the wording and content was adjusted to reflect the Canadian perspective on translation. In other words, CAN/CGSB-131.10-2008 was created to serve the specific needs of the Canadian translation services industry and its clients all over the world.
