 Does social media has an influence on investment behavior? 

Growth in online social network continues unabated with numbers of users estimated at 10% of the world population. This led to a growing interest from the finance sector to harness the wealth of social media data not only as a reactive analytics tool but also as a predictive analytics tool. Though the prospects associated with the use of social media in finance and investment strategies seem tremendous they are not free of challenges.

Abstract: The semantic analysis of social media could widely affect individuals, the industry, small businesses and restaurants, arts and cultural organisations, insurance brokers, as well as financial and educational institutions. Social media analytics can improve or change strategic plans before they are implemented and further investments from the parties concerned by predicting market behaviors or consumer preferences. We will present how social media text analysis can apply to financial applications, media monitoring, data visualisation, and the entertainment and broadcasting industry.
